A pôle muséal, or museum quarter, is currently being built to the west of Lausanne train station. The cultural area will not only consist of the new Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts already under construction, which was designed by Spanish architects Barozzi Veiga, but will also include another museum building. The first floor of this building will house the design museum Mudac, and the basement the photography museum Elysée.
Museological consulting services
Together with organisers and future users, bogner.cc discussed and developed the concept and museological requirements (including spatial and functional programme) in workshops in preparation for the architecture competition for the new building. Furthermore, a functional draft was elaborated for the surrounding cultural area.
Dieter Bogner was a member of the expert team supporting the competition jury, which decided in favour of the project “A museum, Two museums” by Portuguese architects Aires Mateus. bogner.cc advises both architects and the user teams from Mudac and Musée d`Elysée during the implementation of the project.
